Monthly Archives: September 2014
I am so incredibly late in posting this! In fact, this wedding occurred September 2014! Better late than never, right?
I took on a last minute second shooting gig with Joanna of Journey Photography. She was such a pleasure to work with. She quickly answered all my questions, pointed me to where she wanted me, and even let me help her set up a few shots. It is so great working with folks who are easy and willing to let you step in to help out a time or two!
I met her at Chester Presbyterian Church in Chester, VA. It is a gorgeous church – solid wood pews, amazing arches, and even stained glass. Holy smokes! I shot the wedding ceremony from the balcony while she shot it from the main level. The view was amazing!
The reception was at the church too – complete with table decorations and a gorgeous 3 tier cake. All in all, the day went quickly! Check her out on Facebook to see more of her amazing work!
They (whoever they is) say that the third time is a charm. Well, they sure are right. I got to spend another day working with Amber Kay Photography. This was a looooooooooong day for me. I met her a little after noon and hopped in the car for a 2 hour ride up to Maryland. From there, we spent 7 hours shooting a wedding. I finally made it home about 215 AM. Holy smokes that was a long day.
Enough of that! This wedding was amazingly awesome! It was a Jewish wedding which I have never attended let alone shot. From a personal standpoint, I’ve been very fortunate to attend a variety of weddings – Catholic, Baptist, Justice of the Peace, Christian. All these weddings are unique in their own way with their traditions. Having seen all of these (both personally and professionally), I will tell you that Jewish weddings are quite possibly my favorite of all! The energy, the excitement, the ceremony of the signing of the ketubah (marriage contract) and the badeken (veiling of the bride), the bride encircling the groom, the huppah (wedding canopy), and the breaking of the glass.
Holy smokes, this was one awesome wedding! I am so happy I got to second shoot for Amber at this wedding! Here are a few of my favorite images from that day!
Kanne Photography is owned by my friend, Kim. I met her when I first moved up to Chesterfield at the Gold’s gym just outside Powhatan. We quickly became friends through a fitness competition. Shortly after our wedding in 2012, Kim bought her first DSLR. I was ecstatic for her as (at that point in time) I knew the power (again, at that time, it wasn’t nearly as much as I know now) that this camera could posses. She quickly started learning and growing in her knowledge.
Fast forward to 2014 – Kanne Photography has grown into a great business. And I am lucky enough to be a small part of it – second shooting with Kim. We drove 90 minutes out to Clarksville, VA for this wedding. It was great!
It was at a small bed and breakfast – Cooper’s Landing Inn. The bride was gorgeous, her groom sweet. The entire wedding was such a delight. There were small touches that made it rustic and sweet accents that made it gorgeous. Here are a few of my favorite images from this celebration!
