I met Chris (known to me as Brooks) about 15 months ago through our CrossFit gym. He was the smiling, happy-go-lucky, fan of Detroit sports guy that quickly made friends with anyone and everyone. He and Billy quickly became pals and could often be seen chatting about the woes of the Lion, the awesomeness of the Tigers, or just shooting the breeze post WOD (work out of the day)
As the days turned into weeks and months, we met Chelsea – his amazingly gorgeous fiancé (now wife). We got to know each other through cookouts at the gym, attending another couple’s wedding, and being so fortunate to share their special wedding with them. They are a stunning couple and a match made in paradise! I truly enjoy their friendship and how happy they make those around them.
This couple is nothing short of stunning and gracious. When I met them together for part I of what turned into a 2 part session, Chelsea was aglow with that expectant mom shine and full of smiles. She was ready to pose, model, and just have her picture taken. You can tell she loves the camera and the camera loves her. Chris is on in a million – he charmed Chelsea to no end and accommodated her in every way. The love he has for Chelsea is always apparent, but truly was shown in the manner in which he doted on his wife in the sweetest of ways.
I am so happy that the Brooks family is moving back to Richmond! They had a short stint in Virginia Beach due to Chris’ career. With the arrival of their daughter in August, they returned to the Richmond area to be closer to Chelsea’s family. The Brooks’ are truly some amazing people and I am so lucky to be able to call them friends. I am so excited for these two and cannot wait for the arrival of their baby girl. I am so honored and excited that they asked me to photograph their maternity session. I can’t wait for their bundle of joy to join the world in August! Congratulations!!!!
Richmond at night is a great place….the colors, the buildings, it all comes together so nicely to produce some amazingly rich colors. The first time I did this, I learned my settings were not right so a lot of the sky was overexposed even thought the light trails were awesome. This time, I did adjust the settings and captured the colors of the sky so much better. Billy and I decided that we like the lights in the buildings of my first attempt at long exposure shooting much better. However, we’re pretty sure that we have to be out there on a weeknight to capture those. All in all, for a second attempt at long exposure images, I am pretty please with the outcome.
I must say, I hope the sky cooperates this much for the maternity shoot I have tonight! Enjoy these images and be sure to hop on over to the Facebook page and like us there too!
I met Tyler and Justin through my husband and his family. Tyler’s older brother, Jon, and my husband grew up friends and playing together. My mother in law even babysat Jon and when she came along, Tyler too. Since then, the two families have remained close.
After attending Jon’s wedding in December 2012, we were able to capture a few stunning images of Jon and his wife, Jennifer, that Tyler immediately liked. After her engagement, she reached out to Billy asking him about his photography skills. He immediately shared her Facebook message with me at which time I suggested he let her know he wasn’t the one behind the camera.
Tyler and I began messaging and at long last she revealed they wanted to have their engagement pictures done at a winery. At this point, I recommended Williamsburg Winery as it is a middle point for both of us. I also offered maybe some pictures in Colonial Williamsburg while we were out there. She also asked to grab a few by the James River since their wedding will be a beach wedding – can’t leave out that water!
I couldn’t have asked for a couple that made my second engagement shoot (or Billy’s first) so easy or so fun. I also could not have asked for better weather or better locations. We were able to get some great shots. My favorite photo thus far in my early career as a photographer was at the pond found on the property of Williamsburg Winery. We were able to get a reflection that just is amazing. I can’t wait to (hopefully) have more photo shoots at this wonderful location.
There is nothing better than spending a day photographing couples in love with your best friend and having fun! I truly enjoyed getting to spend more time behind the lens and getting more comfortable with directing the poses so they looked natural.
